healing
There is something holy in heart-ache. All it takes, is the courage to believe that ultimately, it leads us to wholeness.
I am sitting quietly
at the altar of now
breathing deeply
cupping us
in the prayer of my hands
giving thanks
for the healing that pours
from the cool cracked moon
of my essence
opening itself
softly
gently
reverently
to welcome the holy sun
exploding its fiery force
in my being
fusing my grateful parts

moth
It’s hard to be separated from someone you love; harder still, to give a voice to intense feelings of isolation and despair. This was written on another one of those lonely, lonely nights...
curls silver
in my palms tonight
where are you?
my body is so cold
so numb
with loneliness
winter’s darkness
chilling down my spine
please
please light me…
where are you?
i imagine you
with the sun flaming
through your ribs
fiery kisses
in your blood
where are you?
please
please ignite me…
i’d rather blaze like a moth
than freeze into unconsciousness
where are you?
the moon
drips through my fingers

escaping into silence
Rumi was a cool dude. He understood something about the mysteries and ecstasies of love. He also liked to write about the moon...
Some Kiss We Want
There is some kiss we want
with our whole lives, the touch
of spirit on the body. Seawater
begs the pearl to break its shell.
And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild darling!
At night, I open the window and ask
the moon to come and press its
face against mine.
Breathe into me. Close
the language-door and open the love-window.
The moon won't use the door,
only the window.
And,
Quietness
Inside this new love, die.
Your way begins on the other side.
Become the sky.
Take an ax to the prison wall.
Escape. Walk out
like someone suddenly born into color.
Do it now.
You're covered with thick cloud.
Slide out the side. Die,
and be quiet. Quietness is the surest
sign that you've died.
Your old life was a frantic running
from silence.
The speechless full moon comes out now.
And again,
Blessing the Marriage
This marriage be wine with halvah,
honey dissolving in milk.
This marriage be the leaves and fruit
of a date tree. This marriage
be women laughing together for days
on end. This marriage, a sign
for us to study. This marriage,
beauty. This marriage, a moon
in a light blue sky. This marriage,
this silence, fully mixed with spirit.

moon shadows
Sometimes, late at night, I walk on the beach and I can feel the moon just vibrating love. And I don't mean the romantic kind, although that is quite palpable too... I mean love in all its various shapes and forms: joyful love, healing love, pining love, the magic of intimacy, closeness, connection...
walking on the beach
i pick up a pearly shell
and lift its lustrous murmur
to my yearning lips
i drink deeply of its whispers
about love’s journey
through moon shadows
and crystal tears
to rosy delicacies of life
luminous as angel wings
unfolding, revealing
a gleaming new beginning

When I tune into love I'm reminded that no matter what happened in the past, and regardless of my expectations of the future, each moment is in itself a brand new start.

moondrops
I am in such a romantic mood today... must be the aroma of summer in the air. Yes, I know, living in Paradise is all sorts of wonderful. Here is one of my favorite moon poems, written by my very talented friend Wingpoem:
Silver moondrops
On my finger tips
On your waiting lips
In between us slips
In the silver light
In the dark of night
I just know you might
Lean to taste my skin
As I breathe you in
Touch you deep within
Kiss me once
In between
The moondrops

billet doux
It's a rainy Sunday afternoon in my valley and I'm in a perfect mood to contemplate the wondrous ways of the heart. This poem captures my feelings exactly:
Your heart is as strange
as the winds of the moon
I cannot read its dust
But I don’t love you because I would
I love you because I must
Your heart is as strange
as the winds of the moon
I cannot read its dust
But I don’t love you because I would
I love you because I must

blame it on the moon
Isn't it amazing how the moon intensifies our emotions? Feeling loving and romantic? Thank the moon. Lonely and shattered? Just...
blame it on the moon
the ruin of the lighthouse
the sinking
of tall ships
wave upon wave of shattering
against the pale and lonely shore
the ruin of the lighthouse
the sinking
of tall ships
wave upon wave of shattering
against the pale and lonely shore
the madness of the tides
the currents
of desolation
violent swells intensifying
the screaming of the whales
blame it on the moon
the drowning of the mermaids
the sad rage
of blue dolphins
screeching gulls plummeting
disappearing in ocean’s spray
blame it on the moon
the distance between us
the deafening solitude
of disconnection
the final uncoupling carried
on breath of barren winds
hey, love…
let’s just
blame it on the moon
